英国人毒舌吐槽:英语是人话吗?它根本不讲道理!

原标题:英国人毒舌吐槽:英语是人话吗?它根本不讲道理!

讲道理,凭什么男人(man)和女人(woman)的复数是“men”和“women”,人类(human)的复数就不能是“humen”了???

@Marimelida:Why isn’t the plural of human “humen” since the plurals of woman and man are women and men?

监狱Jail和局子Prison是同义词,但凭啥jailer就是狱卒,prisoner就是囚犯。咋还成反义词了呢???

@thinice41:“Jail” and “prison” are synonyms, but “jailer” and “prisoner” are antonyms.

你的手指头(finger)可以有指尖(fingertips),但你的脚指尖(toe)不能有toetips。但是吧,脚趾尖叫tiptoe,你说有道理吗?

@Suave-Matthews:Your fingers have fingertips but your toes don’t have toetips, yet you can tiptoe but not tipfinger.

W凭啥发音是“double-U”(双U),W明明是两个V组成的啊???

@saranowitz:Why is a “W” called a “double-U” when it is clearly a “double-V”?

是呢,英语是奇怪的语言。但是(though)它可以通过(through )严格(tough )而彻底(thorough )的思考(thought)来理解。

我就想问问为什么我的流鼻涕是nose run,脚臭却是feet smell....

@MooSaysCow:Why does my nose run and my feet smell?

同义词给人的感受也很不一样。比如,如果我邀请你去我在森林中农舍(cottage in the forest)坐一坐,听起来很舒适对吧?

但如果我邀请你去我树林里的小屋(cabin in the woods )一趟,你听起来会死在那。

@RedBombX:Synonyms are weird because if you invite someone to your cottage in the forest it sounds nice and cozy, but if I invite you to my cabin in the woods then you’re going to die

英语真怪啊:

你可以喝一杯,但不能食一食

@MundaneRiot:You can drink a drink but you can’t food a food.

告诉我为什么Zoey和Zoe的发音都是“佐伊”,但是Joey 和Joe的发音却不一样???

@Djimmieboy:Why are Zoey and Zoe pronounced the same but Joey and Joe aren’t?

如果你们把“在哪儿?”where,“什么?” what, 和“啥时候?”when这三个词的W换成T,那么就得到了这三个问题的答案。

there在那,that那个,then之后

@BetaTestedUrMom :If you replace the “W” in where, what, and when with a “T” you answer the question.

为什么菲律宾philippines和菲律宾人filipino这俩词能差这么远???我最近为这个感到压力山大

如果坟墓Tomb的发音是“toom ”,子宫Womb的发音是“woom”,凭什么炸弹bomb的发音不是“Boom”????

@Xilup:If tomb is pronounced toom and womb is pronounced woom, why isn’t bomb pronounced boom?

“我从没说过她偷了我的钱”- “I never said that she stole my money” ,这句话可以有7个不同的含义,取决于重音词放在哪里

“前几天”的意思,可以是从昨天到我出生后的任何一天

William Shakespeare→ Wouldiwas Shookspeared

@Unknown:The past tense of William Shakespeare would be Wouldiwas Shookspeared.

撕裂Tear和分层tier的发音相同,但撕裂tear和哭泣tear 的发音不同...

@Atal15:Tear and tier are pronounced the same, yet tear and tear are pronounced differently.

排队queue这个破词,就是Q后面所有字母都不发音。

@cherlishPanda:The word “queue” is just a Q followed by 4 silent letters.

每当我被迫在一个句子中使用两个连着的“that”时,我就意识到英语是个有缺陷的语言。发生这种事真不公平啊...(it's not fair that that happens)

气味“scent ”里面的S到底有没有发音?

@Vaxtin:Is the “S” or “C” in scent silent?

咳嗽cough

粗糙的rough
