Hello, everyone. I am Liu Zhanhao, a FAP student who just graduated from senior three this year. Let me start with my major -- BOS.

In fact, this major is a little special. It is a big integration of Business, including Business studies, Management, Finance, Marketing and a series of other majors.

However, when I first entered the school, I did not have a clear plan for my future of major or even career. So how did I become attached to business?

The opportunity of all this is actually due to teacher Ren Wenyan’s advice. In the first week when I walked into the gate of the International Department of Beijing No.35 High School, I found that my classmates often mentioned that they wanted to drink soda and eat snacks, so I gradually got the idea of opening a small shop in the school. So I asked teacher Ren if there was any precedent for students selling goods at the school. My teacher recommended the economic management club to me, and after joining the club, I found that many ideas of everyone in the club happened to coincide, which was also the beginning of my story with the business department.

I remember the first business related competition I participated in, it was a pure English business competition of CYBL promoted by the club at that time. During the competition, I cooperated with other four team members and made joint efforts. My deepest impression is when we submit our case analysis, a sense of accomplishment and happiness comes up, we rejoiced in the corridor on the pitch, at that moment, I truly realized the strong bond between the teammates. I gradually developed a strong interest in business discipline, and began to participate in various competitions and bank internships. Until now, I still smile when I recall that I stayed up all night in a star-rated hotel to discuss business cooperation with other teams and prepare the BP case the next day with my team members.

In my second year of high school, I became the President of the economic management club, and finally got the opportunity to enter the bank for in-depth study. I joined the Banker To Be program held by Citibank.

This project may be a weathervane for my major and my future career orientation. In fact, the whole project is quite dull. Dozens of middle school students from different schools will spend the whole Friday afternoon, evening and even the whole weekend in the conference room on the 18th floor of a building in financial street, listening to the industry elites talk about the industry evaluation and policy trend like a book. It seemed so boring that many of us were gradually absent after half a semester. Only a dozen students insisted, including me. But compared to the time and energy I put in, my gains were more substantial.

In the whole project, relying on the business association of the school as a member, I have a platform to contact with those students who are also interested in business, and I can better realize my own smallness when I face the "monster" geniuses from different schools. But I tried my best to chase them. In addition, I am deeply motivated by a sense of competition and a sense of mission representing the Beijing No.35.

During this period, I also held five business competitions, each of which was a challenge to my personal ability. And most importantly, I lifted the veil of the profession that I had never known in depth. I realized that the so-called finance is not the kind of career that can make millions or even billions of dollars by sitting in the office with the click of a mouse. It is no longer the glamorous vision that opens at 9:30 in the morning and closes at 3 in the afternoon with a timely commute and an annual salary of one million Yuan. This career requires you to do a precise analysis of all the data before you take the field, and prepare corresponding countermeasures in advance for the current policies, national conditions and even any unexpected events of various countries. And that would take so much time and experience that it would take until the wee hours of the morning for each analysis. Because every minute data may affect the overall market trend. Once errors occur, the impact will be the loss of the entire fund.

However, when I saw all these clearly, I was already immersed in this major. No matter its bright appearance, the sense of accomplishment of every effort to complete the task, and the sense of millions of dollars for each operation, it stimulated me to keep moving forward, deepening and exploring.

This is not the ingredient of your college application, nor is it a great harvest that can be achieved with casual efforts. These activities make me have a deep understanding of my major and know more about myself. All this cannot be separated from the various opportunities and platforms provided by the International Department of Beijing No.35 High School, nor can it be separated from the support and encouragement from teachers and my peers.

I think it is a very difficult problem for a student just entering high school to decide what major he will study and what career he will participate in. Many students say they want to study economics and finance, but in fact they only have a vague concept of this major. Possibly determines their own professional only on the advice of the parents, or a good exam result. Extracurricular activities is to make ourselves into such a work environment, the experience that our "favorite" professional, to determine whether we really love and want to learn this major through practice. I also hope that my fellow junior students can also make full use of the resources provided by the school for us, to feel, to experience, to understand, to pursue. May you see your bright future through the storm.
