二者都有原因的意思
但侧重点和用法又有着一定的区别

cause
cause既是名词又是动词。
作名词可以译为 原因/起因/动机，比如 major cause→
主要原因（=main reason）。
cause and effect 因果（关系）
cause指造成某一事实或现象的 直接原因，后接of sth./of doing sth。
cause of ......的起因/原因
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
火灾的原因尚不清楚。
cause for 因为......
There is no cause for concern.
没有理由担忧。
in the cause of 为了......
They do this in the cause of justice.
他们为了正义做这件事。
cause作动词译为造成，引起。
Cars cause pollution.
汽车引起污染。
reason
reason用来 解释某种现象或结果的理由，后面也可以接for sth./for doing sth. /to do...
This was the real reason forher call.
这是她打电话的真实原因。
The reason forwearing these was that his eyes had been weakened by the work of many years.
戴这副眼镜的原因是多年的工作使他的眼睛变差了。
reason to do... 做某事的原因
常见句型：There's no reason to do.../...have no reason for...→没理由....../做......没理由。
There seems no reason to doubt her story.
似乎没有理由怀疑她所说的话。
