一、is there和are there有什么区别?
“is there”和“are there”的主要区别在于它们所跟的名词是单数还是复数。简单来说，“is there”用于询问是否存在某个单数名词或不可数名词，而“are there”则用于询问是否存在某些复数名词。
例1：当我们想知道房间里是否有一本书时，我们会说：Is there a book in the room? 房间里有一本书吗?
这里使用了“is there”，因为“book”是单数名词。
例2：当我们想知道房间里是否有一些书时，我们则会说：Are there any books in the room? 房间里有书吗?
此时我们使用了“are there”，因为“books”是复数名词。
例3：如果我们想知道冰箱里是否有牛奶，我们会问：Is there any milk in the fridge? 冰箱里有牛奶吗?
这里虽然“milk”是不可数名词，但我们仍然使用“is there”。

例6：Are there any new movies playing at the cinema this weekend?这个周末电影院有上映新电影吗?

二、is there和are there的回答
对于“is there”和“are there”的疑问，我们的回答方式也略有不同。对于“is there”的提问，我们通常使用“Yes, there is.”或“No, there isn’t.”来回答;而对于“are there”的提问，我们则使用“Yes, there are.”或“No, there aren’t.”来回答。
例句1：
——Is there a computer on the desk? 桌子上有一台电脑吗?
——Yes, there is. 是的，有一台。 /No, there isn’t. 没有。
例句2：
——Are there any flowers in the garden? 花园里有花吗?
